The October 2026 Omnibus
Midterm voting has begun! With just under a week until Election Day, Democrats continue to hold an advantage on the generic ballot. Disapproval of Trump’s handling of key issues remains high, and Democratic voters are feeling motivated to cast their ballots.
- Trump is deeply underwater on the issues voters care about most: disapproval of his handling of the economy has hit a record high of 61%, and his net approval sits at -41 on inflation and -30 on the conflict in Iran.
- Only 13% of voters think that recent polls are accurate. Rather, most voters believe their preferred party will outperform their polling. Another 22% report either seeing no polling at all or being unsure about their accuracy.
- Independents and voters under economic strain continue to support a strong Democratic lead on the generic ballot. Democrats hold an 18 point advantage among Independents, and a 15 point advantage among those struggling to pay their bills most months.
- Democrats lead with early and absentee voters, while Republicans have the edge with Election Day voters. Nearly three quarters of Democrats are very motivated to vote, while two-thirds of Republicans and only 27% of Independents say the same.
